Carraig Airt, an annual tidy town competition contender, (and the current holder of the title -tidiest Gaeltacht Village in Ireland ) is where the Rosguill Peninsula projects out into the Atlantic between Sheephaven and Mulroy Bay, offers some of the most spectacular views in all of Ireland. The traditional seaside resort of Carrig Áirt is a picturesque village and the victorian architecture adds to its unique character and charm. In the sandhills between Carraig Airt and Na Dúnaibh (Downings) are prehistoric sites where Bronze Age objects have been found, and deep in the dunes there is small cluster of houses that where comsumed by the changing sandscape many years ago.
There is a beautiful park situated behind the main street of Carrigart overlooking the shore area behind the town, its called 'Strand Park' and there a lovely park benches to sit & have an ice cream there and lots of lovely shrubs/plants & flowers etc. Its great for a family picnic & litter bins are provided.

Inland Drives
Glenveagh National Park ( 16 miles)
Take a left turn at the bottom of Creeslough town and you are on the road to one of the country’s foremost national parks. Gift Shop, coffee shop, fabulous gardens and guided tours of Glenveagh Castle.
Dunlewey Lakeside Centre (20miles)
At the base of Errigal mountain, Dunlewey Lakeside centre is especially popular with families. Attractions include- Boat trips around the lake, farmyard animals, large outdoor childrens play area, Go karts, bouncy castle, café, gift shop, & guided tour of weavers cottage.
Colmcille Heritage Centre (25 miles)
The life & times of St. Colmcille explained in an innovative way- see how the inks for the book of Kells were mixed.
Churchill, Gartan
The artist Derek Hill gave his home to the state in recent years- one can view his home and the art gallery next door.
Lough Salt Drive
For breathtaking views of the Rosguill peninsula take a drive up the lough salt road which will bring you to Letterkenny via Kilmacrenan. Directions- from the hotel head for the village of Glen, just after the village you turn off to the left and up a steep hill, this is the lough salt road.
